What Does LED stand for in TV?
So, what exactly is an LED TV? An LED – or light-emitting diodes – TV is a standard LCD TV that utilises LED lighting to create a better, more pleasurable viewing experience.
LEDs make pictures sharper, brighter and altogether of a higher quality, providing you with a dazzling television to watch all of your favourite TV shows and movies on!
What Is the Difference Between LCD and LED TV?
Simply put, an LED TV is an LCD TV that is backlit with light-emitting diodes (LEDs). This comes in two forms; edge lighting utilises LED backlights around the edge of the TV screen, creating a brighter screen around the border progressively getting darker as the eye moves towards the centre of the screen.
In the second option, LEDs are used in what is known as ‘Full-array backlighting’. Wanting to take full advantage of the brilliance of LED, some manufacturers place many rows of LEDs behind the entire surface of the screen. This creates a more even, brighter viewing experience with a greater contrast, and really gives your brand new LED TV that wow factor that you are seeking.
What To Look for When Buying an LED TV
When it comes to parting with any amount of money, we want to know that we are making the most of our hard-earned cash. When looking for a new LED TV, you need to consider the following:

Size vs. Minimum viewing distance
This is important as any LED TV below 32” can be enjoyed at a minimum viewing distance of approximately 4 feet. Just because you have an entire wall to fill does not necessarily mean that you have to.

Sound
Dependent on the sound quality that you desire, it is a fact that different TV manufacturers have conflicting qualities of sound. Consider big name brands such as Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, JVC, Samsung and Sony.
